Whether you're looking for a bottle to enjoy with dinner tonight, or want to present the wine aficionado in your life with a great vintage - may we suggest the following.
Andre Lurton Chateau Coucheroy 2003
Winery: Andre Lurton
Region:
Pessac - Leognan. The estate, in the commune of Léognan, is situated among the appellation’s most prestigious names.
Country: France
Description:
From the extraordinarily talented hand of André Lurton comes this 50/50 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, an excellent example of a lighter-style red Bordeaux that is fresh, velvety and easy-drinking.
50 % Cabernet sauvignon, 50 % Merlot
Tasting notes:
Coucheroy, which means 'the king slept here' in the local Gascon dialect, refers to the night Henri IV, king of France, sought refuge here during a storm. This red wine, a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, is designed as an easy drinking, fruit-forward wine.
The bouquet:
Ripe fruits, grilled and smoked aromas due to the soil origin and the perfectly integrated woody notes.
The palate:
Supple and pleasant mellow tanins final with spicy notes of undergrowth.
Aging:
Expressive after 2 to 4 years, can age up 10 to 15 years
Food pairing:
While it will reward a few years in the cellar, this wine can be enjoyed right now with grilled chicken with fresh herbs, veal or cheeses.
